The Founder

Thomas McClure built it from nothing,
then wrote the blueprint

Thomas McClure is the founder of Fashion Week Columbus and the Columbus Fashion Council. He has spent more than two decades producing fashion shows and fashion weeks in America's regional markets, and he started in a city with no fashion industry infrastructure, no established fashion community, and no roadmap for what he was trying to build. Fashion Week Columbus is now one of the largest and most respected regional fashion weeks in the nation.

He built it as an institution rather than an annual event. A fashion week becomes an institution when designers plan their collections around its dates, when sponsors write it into their yearly budgets before renewal conversations open, and when the city and the county keep investing in it year after year. That is what a fashion week becomes when it is built to last: a platform a creative community can plan its future around.

A platform like that carries an entire creative community. Alongside the designers, models, hair professionals, makeup artists, fashion stylists, photographers, videographers, and production crews build their portfolios and their businesses on it. Every one of them runs a small business, and when the infrastructure is there they work more, earn more, grow professionally, and build their careers in the city they call home. Every framework, budget, template, and process behind that work is now The Fashion Week Blueprint, available to any producer in any city.

Beyond Columbus, he serves as a board officer of the Miami Business Council, a board member of the Las Vegas Fashion Council, a member of the Vegas Fashion Week planning committee, and a partner of Fashion Week Cincinnati.
